Žuvininkai (salduve) hillfort. According to stories, a wooden castle was once standing on Salduve Hillock, but there is no evidence to support this statement. The origin of the name Salduve is not clear, although a legend tells that the hillock was inhabited by a king of Šiauliai together with his loved one. Since the couple was not married, the God of Thunderer struck both of them. And because their love was very sweet, the hillock was given the name Salduve (meaning – sweet).
