Baltic tribes are closely related to horses. It becomes evident by the multiple horse remains found and characteristic of the Great Migration period and Viking Age in the territory of present-day Lithuania. Žemaitukai, the horse species, is a typical element of Lithuanian national identity. They personify the thousand-year long history of Balts and Lithuania. The small, pony-like horses are hardy and courageous. In Pakruojis, visitors may go for rides or simply watch them grazing.
